Analysis: U.S. August Consumer Inflation May Rise, but Not Enough to Prevent Fed Rate Cut Next Week

By: theblockbeats.news|2025/09/11 09:22:57

BlockBeats News, September 11th. Economists widely believe that U.S. August consumer inflation may rebound, with rising gasoline prices and import tariffs pushing up prices of some goods, but the expected pace is not enough to prevent the highly anticipated Fed rate cut next week. BLS's report on Wednesday showed that August Producer Price Index (PPI) unexpectedly cooled due to a compression in trade service profit margins and a moderate increase in commodity costs, but economists do not expect CPI data to replicate this trend.

Although a September rate cut is almost a certainty, future rate cuts are by no means certain. "If upcoming inflation data continues to exceed expectations, the Fed's focus may quickly shift back to controlling price increases," said Bankrate financial analyst Stephen Kates. (Jinse)
