OpenAIs $3 billion acquisition of Windsurf failed, and the latter turned to Google

Odaily News Google has reached a licensing agreement with programming startup Windsurf that would overturn OpenAI’s $3 billion offer to buy the startup after the agreement’s exclusivity period expires, according to people familiar with the matter.
The deal with Google means Windsurf will continue to operate as an independent startup, the sources said.
An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed to Fortune that the exclusivity period of the $3 billion deal the two companies reached two months ago has expired.
