Thailand SEC plans to optimize crypto investor threshold mechanism
Odaily News The Thai SEC has issued an announcement that it is soliciting public opinions on new ICO regulations. The proposed rules will allow investors who have passed the relevant knowledge test to be exempted from repeated testing every quarter, and require ICO platforms to conduct suitability assessments for non-institutional investors to ensure that they understand the risks of digital token investment and have the corresponding risk tolerance. Such assessments must be updated at least every two years, replacing the current three-month frequency.
The new rules aim to reduce the compliance burden on ICO platforms and investors, while also referring to traditional securities regulatory practices. Professional investors will continue to be exempt from knowledge test requirements. The public can submit feedback before August 1. In addition, the Thai SEC has recently launched a consultation on the exchanges spontaneous token listing mechanism and information disclosure, and plans to promote the encrypted payment tourism pilot and Bitcoin ETF retail access.
