The US Treasury Department estimates borrowing of $569 billion in the fourth quarter, a decrease of $21 billion from the July projection.
BlockBeats News, November 4th, the US Treasury Department released its fourth-quarter borrowing estimate, expecting to borrow $569 billion in the fourth quarter, a decrease of $21 billion from the July estimate, mainly due to a higher cash balance at the beginning of the quarter, which was partially offset by expected lower net cash flows.
Excluding the higher-than-expected beginning-of-quarter cash balance, the borrowing estimate for the quarter is $20 billion higher than the data announced in July. Assuming a cash balance of $850 billion at the end of March next year, the Treasury Department expects to borrow $578 billion in the January to March quarter of 2026 through private placements of net marketable debt securities.
