US crypto-friendly Senator Cynthia Lummis to retire after the end of her term in 2027
BlockBeats News, December 20th, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis announced that she will not seek reelection, and her term will end in January 2027. As the Chair of the Senate Banking Committee's Digital Assets Subcommittee, she has been actively involved in cryptocurrency regulatory legislation at the congressional level, working with Kirsten Gillibrand to push for the establishment of a regulatory framework for digital assets, clarifying the regulatory roles of U.S. SEC and CFTC, among other agencies. The related legislation is currently advancing in the Senate Banking Committee and Agriculture Committee, and will need to be voted on by the full Senate and reconciled with the House version.
