Trump says Bensent is very good but suggests hes not the best candidate for Fed chairman
Odaily News U.S. President Trump said that Bennett is a candidate to succeed the Federal Reserve chairman, but he is satisfied with Bennetts current performance as Treasury Secretary.
On July 15, local time, Trump said that Bessant was an option to succeed Powell as the chairman of the Federal Reserve, but hinted that he was not the leading candidate because he did a very successful job as Treasury Secretary. When asked directly whether Bessant was a potential successor that day, Trump replied to reporters, He is an option, and he is very good. When asked whether Bessant was the best candidate, Trump replied, Well, he is not, because I like the job he does (Treasury Secretary). (Xinhua Finance)
