BlockBeats News, January 23, US House Republicans on Thursday rejected by a vote of 215 to 215 a resolution aimed at preventing US President Trump from taking further military action in Venezuela without congressional authorization.

A few days ago, a similar measure failed to pass in the Senate. In the closely divided House, the vote largely followed party lines. With the exception of Nebraska's Don Bacon and Kentucky's Thomas Massie, all Republicans voted against. All Democrats voted in favor.

The close vote reflects Congress's (including some Republicans) concerns about Trump's foreign policy. More and more people are supporting the view enshrined in the Constitution that the power to deploy US forces into war should belong to Congress, not the President. (Wall Street News)
